Opportunity Quilt DrawingThe 2018 Opportunity Quilt was won by Cheryl Lopez from Hollister.  Opportunity Quilt Winner

Monterey Bay Treasures

2018 Opportunity Quilt

The 2018 Opportunity Quilt, Monterey Bay Treasures,  was designed by Heidi Sandkuhle and made by members of the Off Kilter Quilters, a small quilt group that was started in 1999.

Using photos of the fantastic animals that live in the Monterey Bay Sanctuary, simple line drawings were drafted then enlarged and printed.  Each block maker received those items plus background fabrics.  Instruction was also supplied for fusible raw edge applique.

Besides raw edge applique, participants used paints, ribbons, markers, parachute cords, and netting to achieve a life-like block of their animal.

Off Kilter Quilters who made blocks are Roz diNatale, Peggy Williams, Rosa Kitchen, Robin West, Laura Barnett, Maris Azevedo, Anna Brenkwitz, Marilyn Hamilton, Iris Frank, and Heidi Sandkuhle. Quilting was done by Heidi Sandkuhle and Rosa Kitchen.  The binding was sewn on by Diane Deaver.
